State Regulations

State and IRS Regulations Of Charitable Organizations

The states of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont each require charitable organizations and fund raising consultants to file certain fees, forms and reports. Requirements vary by state. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) also has specific rules regarding charitable deductions and tax reporting. The following are links where you can learn more about the requirements in your state or from the IRS. Since there is often some ambiguity regarding these regulations and they can be technical in nature, we suggest that you also seek the advice of your lawyer or accountant, if needed.
